All ages and abilities are welcome. Together, we hone a special set of skills by training in martial arts. Led by Wales' national kata coach, Sensei Chico Mbakwe (8° dan).
Shotokan karate makes brutal combat techniques practical and safe to practise. Training for competition, self-defence or the simple joy of martial arts, you'll learn real-world fighting skillsets through expert tuition.
The only karate governing body recognised by World and European Karate Federations (WKF and EKF) and the International Olympic Committee.
This means our chief instructors hold valid, UK Athletics-recognised coaching qualifications. Senior sensei oversee safe and effective training, where respect is paramount and classes inspire us to develop both skill and control.

In the dojo of the WSKU, traditional Shotokan karate is taught by highly experienced instructors. Many of them have trained under top Japanese senseis Asano, Kanazawa, Enoeda, Kato, Nagai, Kawasoe, and Ochi to name but a few.
Many of Britain's most formidable karateka have also trained with and taught our senior instructors. Such as Sensei Steve Cattle, Sensei Terry O'Neil, Sensei Dave Hazard, Sensei Rick Jackson, and Sensei Aidan Trimble.
This vast experience and deep understanding sets WSKU apart from other dojo. Making it a very special place to train karate-do.
