SENSEI GEORGE BYARS 4th DAN Born in Glasgow in 1954 and after having moved around the UK ended up in South Wales in 1969

Started my martial arts training in Kung Fu in 1972 with the then European Champion. I left Kung Fu three years later to concentrate on my education and work commitments

In 1980 I tried to rekindle my interest in Kung Fu but became disillusioned with all the hype of trying to be Bruce Lee.

I then turned my attention to other forms of Martial Arts – Taekwondo and Aikido. Spending about a year at each of them. But again they were not for me.

It was about this time (mid 1980’s) that a Shotokan Karate Club opened up in Caerleon, where I still live. Two brothers, Richard and Chris, ran the club with the visiting Sensei Masao Kawasoe who would grade the students every four or five months. It was with Sensei Kawasoe that I obtained, 1st Kyu in Shotokan Karate.

As with all top Sensei their time becomes very difficult to fit all commitments into their schedule, as a result Sensei Kawasoe had to withdraw from our club. The club then folded in 1998.

It might seem all doom and gloom but the light in the tunnel was finding the Welsh Shotokan Karate Union, run by Sensei Chico Mbakwe where I obtained my Shodan, Nidan and Sandan Dan Grades.

I now run a small club in Ponthir where I tell my students that Karate is not just about fighting and wining but about the mental disciplines and what you gain in training – strength of character and will power to face all life’s difficulties – so enjoy your Karate Training and have fun.

After the Oakland Raiders made Derek Carr the highest-paid players in NFL history, let's take a look at which young NFL quarterbacks could be next in line to receiver a heftier contract.DeMarco Murray Jerseys The future is bright for quarterback Derek Carr when looking at the progress he's made since coming to the NFL in 2014, and the Oakland Raiders wanted to make sure their beloved quarterback was happy with his current situation by making history. On Thursday, the Raiders agreed to a hefty five-year, $125 million extension with Carr, making him the highest paid player in NFL history. For a former second-round pick who has only been in the league for three seasons, this is beyond impressive for someone like Carr, as Oakland found themselves in a position where they wanted to make sure their quarterback would be around for the long run. Carr was one of the main reasons why the Raiders were finally able to put an end to their disastrous playoff drought last season thanks to displaying MVP-type numbers, but unfortunately a Delanie Walker Jerseys broken leg prevented him from suiting up in the postseason. While it's easy to make the case that Carr deserves every penny of this new deal, other teams can thanks the Raiders for setting the bar high for the next round of young quarterbacks expected to receive hefty raises in the next couple Marcus Mariota Jerseys of years. Thanks to Carr's deal, Eddie George Jerseys let's take a look at five young quarterbacks who may be in line to top the Oakland quarterback's hefty contract when the time comes down the road. At the moment, Jared Goff has a long way to go when it comes to proving to the Los Angeles Rams that he deserves a long-term deal when considering he enters the 2017 season still in search of his first career win as a starter. To say the Rams' offense was horrendous during Goff's rookie year would be a major understatement after the unit ranked at the bottom of the Derrick Henry Jerseys league by only averaging 14 points per game. The good news for Goff is Los Angeles took a huge risk this offseason by making Sean McVay the youngest head coach in NFL history, and based off the last few months of work, it seems like the quarterback is quickly picking up his new offense.
